#onedaywithoutshoes I’ll do my best, but I do work in a school. (Taken with instagram)
I was 19. A young military wife, living on the weapons station in Goose Creek, SC. My husband was at nuke school and I was in bed. My grandma from Alaska called and immediately after my mom in Washington state called and beeped in both telling me to turn on the TV. I turned it on to see the 2nd plane hit the towers (I had no clue what those were before this day…kinda sad huh?). I was in disbelief and just sat there crying. The base (which had been an “open base”) was put on lock down and my husband was sent home. I knew it was bad. It was the first time they had shut down the nuke school/sub prototype in over 40 years. My husband spent the next 4 days home and we couldnt leave base. Some people who worked off base couldnt even get back home. My husband had been in the Navy for just over a year and we had no clue how this would effect us/him. That was such a scary thought….going to WAR. We were glued to the TV those first few days and spent lots of time praying and crying.
